Between Darkness and Light | The Art of Healing with Victoria Cherepanova

What exists in the space between darkness and light? In this episode of Muse and Medium, Jacky Ho sits down with multidisciplinary visual artist Victoria Cherepanova for a powerful conversation about trauma, healing, transformation, and the emotional weight art can carry. Working across painting, illustration, tattoo, digital media, sculpture, and restoration, Victoria’s practice explores the layered intersection of psychological depth and visual storytelling. Her work moves between shadow and illumination—confronting themes of violence, survival, identity, and recovery, while also creating luminous imagery inspired by nature, minerals, cosmic symbolism, and spiritual transformation. Born in Russia and now based in Canada, Victoria shares how migration, resilience, and personal experience shaped her artistic voice and deepened her relationship with creation. In this episode, we discuss: 🎨 Victoria’s multidisciplinary artistic journey 🖤 Trauma, survival, and emotional memory in art ✨ Healing and transformation through creative practice 🖌 The relationship between restoration and recovery 🌌 Why art exists in the space between darkness and light Some art decorates walls. Some art reveals wounds. And some art helps us heal them. 🎙 Podcast: Muse and Medium Host: Jacky Ho Follow Victoria’s work for more: Instagram: @victoriacherepanova If this conversation resonated with you, consider subscribing and sharing the episode.

Victoria Cherepanova

We’re honoured to feature Victoria Cherepanova, a multidisciplinary visual artist whose work moves between painting, tattooing, illustration, and digital art. Victoria’s practice carries both depth and light: some pieces step into complicated emotions and difficult stories, while others open like colour, healing, and breath. Working with oil, acrylic, and digital forms, she creates art that feels raw, expressive, and alive. Through the Glory Artist Showcase Program, we hope to create more space for local artists to be seen, supported, and connected with the community. Come discover Victoria’s world at La Gloria Mexican Coffee, in collaboration with The Village Art Studio. Art has a way of turning pain into colour, and colour into conversation.

Our Vision

Art is the Cultural Heartbeat

The Village Art Studio was born from a simple observation: Toronto is home to incredible artists who are often working in isolation. We believe that art doesn't just need a wall — it needs a community.

We bridge the gap between artist and audience, creation and connection. The Village Art Studio is more than a platform; it is a home for those who believe in the power of local storytelling.
